Description

Noodler's 90mL Baystate Blue fountain pen ink.

Noodler's famous catfish makes appearances on several of their unusually designed bottles. Also in Noodler's line are unique bottles and colours, some with politically influenced themes. Be careful as you open these bottles, as Noodler's fills these to the brim to make sure you get every drop you pay for. Their larger bottle sizes ensure that you have enough ink to write your memoirs without needing another visit to Wonder Pens.

A True Blue January 7, 2018
Reviewer: James from Richmond Hill
Baystate Blue is a honest true blue without any undertones of purple or green that I can detect. I have been using it in my backpacked Pilot Metropolitan (fine nib) for several days now, and notes written with it looked good under all types of lighting. Note that the ink is not at all like the eye-searing images you see posted on the Internet, and if you are expecting it to be so, you will be disappointed. After drying, Baystate Blue is a little bit brighter than Pilot Blue but that is about it.

I did not see any noticeable feathering on any of the papers that I tested the ink on. However, there was a wee bit of bleed-through here and there on all the papers.

Using the kitchen sink as a test lab, Baystate Blue appears to be completely water-proof and not just merely water resistant. I like working with a cup of brew beside me and this property of the ink alone makes Baystate Blue a keeper for me.

Overall a winner May 23, 2017
Reviewer: David from Oshawa, ON
Permanent, smear resistant, fast-drying, great flow, minimal feathering, great colour! Cutting it by up to 50% distilled water gives nearly no colour loss and adds versatility and better behaviour (i use 20% water). It does not clean out of a pen completely using water alone and some don't like this. Others claim it 'melts' pens leading many to worry and retailers to hide behind disclaimers. As with any investment of significance, Caveat Emptor and do your homework! If you're lazy, put it into a dedicated pen you're willing to throw away. My take is, we're fountain pen users here and more work is the norm. If a bleach solution is too much, you're using the wrong kind of pens and should go back to Bic. I read the reviews and warnings, bought a sample, tinkered around and love this ink. I'm buying a bottle.

Amazing color, but... February 25, 2017
Reviewer: Arpit Toteja from Burnaby, BC Canada
I love this ink and the color. It's a bright purplish-blue that stands out on the page. It flows really well, and has quite high saturation. However, it has almost no water resistance, but it still tends to stain pens. Beware of that!

Relentlessly cheerful February 19, 2017
Reviewer: Helen from Toronto, ON Canada
One of my favourite inks. It dries quickly without feathering and it is a bright, cheerful blue that is very waterproof when dry. It stains but it's worth it. I have heard this ink really doesn't play well with others so be sure to clean any pen thoroughly before and after filling with Baystate Blue.

Stunning! June 19, 2014
Reviewer: Sujaan K from Markham, ON Canada
With Baystate Blue's stunning colour comes its disadvantage of staining whatever fountain pen you are using. I made one of my Lamy Safaris my dedicated Bay State Blue fountain pen, so staining is irrelevant, as that's the only colour going to be in there. I would advise against using BSB in demonstrators such as the TWSBI 580 unless you are planning to make said pen the dedicated BSB pen. I love the colour though- it is a great blue. Wonder Pens packaged them superbly! I appreciate the work you've done! Thanks Jon and Liz!
